Reasons for changing Roots blower to magnetic bearing turbo blower and how to transform it
Reasons for roots blower upgradation
Energy saving and high efficiency: The efficiency of magnetic levitation blowers can be as high as 90% or even above 95%, which is much higher than that of Roots blowers. It can significantly reduce energy consumption costs and has obvious energy-saving effects in long-term operation, which meets the requirements of energy conservation and emission reduction policies. For example, in large-scale sewage treatment plants and other energy-intensive plants, the use of magnetic levitation blowers can effectively reduce energy consumption.
Low noise: The magnetic bearing of the magnetic levitation blower is frictionless. The main noise during operation comes from air flow, and the noise level is usually below 80 decibels. Due to the mechanical structure and working principle of the Roots blower, the noise level is generally around 110 decibels. Even if a muffler is installed, the effect is limited.
Low maintenance cost: The magnetic levitation blower has a simple structure and no complex mechanical transmission parts, such as gears and belts. There is no need to regularly check and replace these vulnerable parts, nor is there any need to add lubricating oil. Only the air filter needs to be replaced regularly, which has a small maintenance workload and low maintenance cost.
Long service life: The magnetic bearing of the magnetic levitation blower has no mechanical wear, and the motor and impeller are directly driven, which reduces the wear of the transmission parts. The service life of the equipment can be up to more than 20 years, while the Roots blower has more vulnerable parts and the service life is generally 5-8 Years, more frequent replacement of parts and equipment maintenance are required.
Wide adjustment range: Magnetic levitation blowers can achieve stepless frequency conversion speed regulation through frequency converters, and can flexibly adjust air volume and air pressure according to actual needs to meet the operating requirements under different working conditions. However, the air volume adjustment of Roots blowers is relatively difficult, and the adjustment range and accuracy are not as good as those of magnetic levitation blowers.
Preparation before upgradation
Parameter collection: Collect the operating parameters of Roots blowers, such as power, pressure, flow, speed, etc., so as to accurately select the appropriate magnetic levitation blower to meet the actual working conditions.

Site evaluation: Evaluate the installation site, including space dimensions, foundation conditions, pipeline layout, etab. Magnetic levitation blowers are small in size and light in weight, but it is still necessary to ensure that there is enough space for installation and maintenance. At the same time, check whether the foundation meets the requirements and whether the pipeline needs to be modified to adapt to the connection of the new blower.
Equipment selection: Select a magnetic levitation blower of appropriate model and specification based on the collected parameters and on-site evaluation results. Be careful to avoid over-selection or under-selection. Over-selection will cause waste, while under-selection will not meet production needs.

upgradation implementation steps
Remove Roots blower: According to the operating procedures, first cut off the power supply of the Roots blower, remove the connecting pipes, wires, control lines, etc., and then remove the Roots blower as a whole from the foundation, and properly keep the removed parts.
Install the magnetic levitation blower: Lift the magnetic levitation blower to the installation location, adjust the horizontality and verticality, and then fix it. When connecting the inlet and outlet pipes, pay attention to sealing to prevent air leakage. At the same time, connect the power cord, control signal line, etc., and ensure that the wiring is correct.
System debugging: After the installation is completed, perform system debugging. First, check whether the installation of each component is firm, then turn on the power, gradually adjust the speed, air volume, air pressure and other parameters of the magnetic levitation blower, and check whether the operation status of the blower is normal, including whether the vibration, noise, temperature and other indicators meet the requirements. At the same time, check whether the functions of the control system are normal, such as whether remote monitoring, fault alarm and other functions are realized.
Renovation precautions
Space reservation: In order to facilitate the subsequent disassembly and maintenance of the magnetic levitation blower, it is recommended to leave enough space around the blower for 1m.
Pipeline optimization: During the upgradation, the number of pipeline elbows should be minimized to reduce pressure loss and ensure that the performance of the blower is fully utilized.

Sound insulation and noise reduction: The coal pipeline from the magnetic levitation blower to related equipment needs to be wrapped with sound insulation cotton to insulate and reduce noise, thereby reducing the impact of noise on the surrounding environment.
Operation training: Operators are trained on the operation of magnetic levitation blowers to make them familiar with the performance characteristics, operating procedures, maintenance requirements, etab. of the new blower, to ensure that they can operate and maintain the blower correctly, and avoid equipment damage or safety accidents caused by misoperation.
Emergency measures: It is recommended to retain some Roots blowers as spares, which can be used as substitutes when the magnetic levitation blower is temporarily shut down abnormally, so as not to affect the normal operation of the production system. At the same time, it should be noted that one-way valves and manual butterfly valves should be installed between the connecting pipes to prevent airflow backflow.
